Creative Producer - 12 Month FTC
This role will be key to offering young people the platform to form new connections and providing them with the chance to create industry standard portfolio material, opening doors to access further work and educational opportunities. These projects and partnerships aim to provide the vital creative opportunities for the voices of tomorrow.
The post holder will be responsible for building a sustainable funding model, working closely with the fundraising manager to develop corporate partnerships, opportunities for commissioned work and co-writing funding bids. The post holder will manage a Digital Content Creator focused on Film Production, as well as leading young film-makers and volunteers.They will also manage subcontractors and freelancers such as professional filmmakers, editors and actors.
This role requires in-person working either at The Reed in North Kensington, or on-site with our partners for detached work, or on location for filming projects, for a minimum of 2 days/14 hours per week to include Thursdays.
Key Responsibilities- Design and manage the annual production schedule, recruiting industry mentors, identifying valuable partners and creating a distribution and branding strategy that brings visibility to the work
- Providing excellence in inclusive film and video training for young people, with a responsibility to deliver part of it directly themselves
- Work with the Youth Programme Manager on recruitment, ensuring the project reaches a diverse range of young people, designing and delivering detached activities to access those who can be harder to reach (e.g. those at risk of exclusion) and maintaining/building sustained partnerships with community organisations
- Work with the Fundraising Manager on implementing the development strategy, supporting with funding bids and playing a key role in developing corporate partnership
- Analysis and evaluation of projects both internally and externally via impact reporting, enabling continuous improvement and the development of new, youth-led film projects
- Manage the Digital Content Creator (0.6 FTE), overseeing their personal development and supporting them to be able to work independently on funded and commissioned work
- Lead, coach and motivate the team, ensure that they are committed to Octavia’s vision and values and work effectively as a team
- Develop industry partnerships and relationships to facilitate pathways for young people to access junior and trainee paid roles
- Keeping up to date with technological changes, making sure our equipment is maintained and updated so we are able to provide the best possible resources for our projects, collaborating with the youth programme manager to ensure inventory is effectively managed and continuously reviewed
- Management of a large scale programme budget, overseeing the income and outlay of a minimum of £80,000 per year
Requirements

Experience- Worked in a professional Film or TV environment, with a range of personal contacts
- Worked with young people, particularly those aged 14-25 years
- Developed partnerships and worked in a range of ways to raise income over 20K
- Worked in an inclusive and empowering way with a diverse group of service-users
- Managed individuals and teams
- Taking an idea from concept to production to distribution, overseeing each stage effectively (including Film Festival submission)
- Commercial awareness of how Film, TV and Media production operates, with a grasp of potential career pathways and helping support young people to overcome barriers
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluating youth projects, implementing measurements to help map progress and impact
- Knowledge of 3rd Sector funding and the financial model of charities
- Awareness of safeguarding for young people and adults
- Excellent skills in film-making, with a breadth of technical skills and a knowledge/ability to learn quickly how to use equipment such as our Blackmagic Cameras, Sony PXW-FX9 XDCAM 6K and software such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut or Avid
- Devising and overseeing creative projects, with an emphasis on inclusion and accessibility
- Excellent verbal and written communicator, with an experience of actively engaging with a range of stakeholders and building new relationships

The salary for this role is £45,400 per annum with up to 10% pension contribution.
