Business Analyst, Migration and Borders Technology Portfolio

apartmentGovernment Recruitment Service placeSheffield calendar_month

The Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) profession enable the Home Office to keep the UK safe and secure. They do this by designing, building, and running the services that help people apply for visas or passports, support policing and counter-terrorism operations, and protect the UK’s borders.

Team members have specialised knowledge and a calling to build on it. We want the best people to come to the Home Office and work in the diverse roles and communities they’re passionate about. This is how we produce exceptional outcomes.

Due to business requirements this post is available on a Full Time/Job Share/Flexible Working basis. Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. Where this is the case, employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in the office.

Applicants can raise any queries to the email address at the bottom of the advert.

We value diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from the widest diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. We particularly encourage applications from women, people with disabilities and LGBT+ as they are currently under-represented in the Home Office at this grade level.

Appointments will be made on merit based on fair and open competition.

Migration and Borders Technology Portfolio (MBTP) is part of the (DDaT) Directorate in the Home Office. MBTP is a Portfolio of around 3,500 dedicated professionals made up of civil servants and suppliers working together to develop some of the most challenging and transformative technology products, supporting critical programmes within the Migration and Borders system.

Working closely with colleagues in the Migration and Borders mission, we also support a number of the Home Office's capabilities such as Customer Services, Immigration Enforcement and Border Force. We jointly design services, build, run and sustain them to enable some of the government’s most important strategic outcomes, notably the legitimate movement of people and goods to support economic prosperity.

A Business Analyst will receive direction from more senior business analysts on task-based delivery but will be responsible for the output. You will make sure outcomes are aligned with the service vision and business strategy by connecting the current and future business models and delivering to the future business architecture strategy or plan.

You will also be involved in supporting and informing product iteration, evolution and optimisation.

You will help to develop and enhance stakeholder relationships in order to facilitate collaboration. You will be expected to draw on expertise of more senior colleagues to help you develop technical specifications and plans.
