Job Title: Mental Health Teaching Assistant
Location: Birmingham.

Pay Rates £95 - £110 Per Day.

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and dynamic team. This role is perfect for someone passionate about mental health and education, with a desire to make a real difference in young people’s lives.

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to students experiencing mental health challenges, ensuring they can access learning in a safe and supportive environment. You’ll be working closely with teachers, school staff, and external professionals to promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with mental health needs.
  • Assist teachers in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and mental health strategies.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment for students.
  • Support students in managing anxiety, depression, ADHD, or other mental health issues that may impact their learning.
  • Work closely with mental health professionals, such as counselors or school psychologists, to ensure the student’s needs are met.
  • Help with behavior management and the development of coping strategies.
  • Provide feedback to teachers and parents on students’ progress and well-being.
  • Promote social and emotional skills through structured activities.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with mental health challenges (experience in schools is a plus).
  • Knowledge of mental health conditions and their impact on education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and with external professionals.
  • Relevant qualifications in mental health, psychology, education, or related fields (desirable but not essential).
