An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Physiotherapist to join the therapy team in a static role within Orthopaedics.
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Physiotherapist with a strong interest in Orthopaedics to become a part of our well-established multi-disciplinary team. You will receive support from our experienced band 7 therapists.
This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week, with the expectation to participate in the weekend and respiratory on-call rota.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with acute trauma patients and an interest in supporting both trauma and elective patients. The role requires the flexibility to work across both Watford General Hospital and St Albans City Hospital.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate would be providing highly skilled physiotherapy assessment and treatment to Orthopaedic inpatients across both Watford General and St Albans City Hospital including elective, trauma and fractured neck of femur patients.
The successful candidate will join a growing integrated team of OT’s and Physio’s and will have the opportunity to develop both their clinical and supervisory skills.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering excellent Orthopaedic care and contributing to service development projects.
Excellent clinical reasoning and therapy handling skills are a prerequisite for this post.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate must be confident in managing elective, trauma, and fractured neck of femur patients.
Applicants should demonstrate confidence in working within a team of Physiotherapy staff and a willingness to collaborate effectively in service provision, including providing support to the wider therapy team.
The post holder will also contribute to the service training program, helping to develop staff competence in managing orthopaedic patients.
Person specification
Education and qualifications:
Essential criteria- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or equivalent recognised by Health Care Professionals Council.
- Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent.
- Documented evidence of Continued Professional Development of expanded specialist skills.
- Attendance at post graduate courses in relevant fields.
Knowledge:
Essential criteria- Understanding of Physiotherapy structure in NHS.
- Standards – Health Care Professions Council/ Chartered Society of Physiotherapy/ Local.
- Policies and Procedures (local e.g. Health and Safety).
- Ability to search and review evidence base.
- Understanding of clinical governance and the implications for the service.
- Evidence of written projects/audit.
Experience:
Essential criteria- Clinical problem-solving ability.
- Proven relevant clinical experience in trauma and orthopaedics
- Skill in physiotherapeutic techniques.
- Highly developed physical skills, dexterity, coordination and sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients.
- Willing to participate in emergency/on call duties and weekend working
- Ability to assess patient conditions establish a diagnosis and formulate a specialised treatment plan, from a range of modalities.
- Experience as a Band 5 Physiotherapist in a broad rotational post.
- Acute/Community.
- Previous experience in the NHS as a qualified physiotherapist.
- Respiratory on-call/emergency experience.
- Orthopaedic inpatient elective care experience.
- Previous Band 6 experience in relevant post.
