FULL TIME POST - 37.5 HOURS PER WEEK

The Cellular Pathology Department has a vacancy for a Medical Laboratory Assistant to work full time hours supporting the Biomedical Scientists and Consultant Histopathologists.

The post-holder will process samples including body fluids and human tissue and perform support duties throughout all sections of the Cellular Pathology Department. The Department is well-equipped, fully computerised, and offers experience in all aspects of routine histology, diagnostic non gynaecological cytology, frozen sections, digital pathology and immunohistochemistry.

You must possess good organisational skills and be able to work as part of a team as well as under your own initiative. The work is interesting and varied and the emphasis is on accuracy and attention to detail. Full training will be given.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities
 To sort and identify specimens received in the Laboratory
 To enter patient’s details and other data onto the computer
 General clerical duties associated with the work of the Laboratory, including
filing, telephone answering, photocopying etc.
 Reception, recording and preparation of patient samples.
 Perform other miscellaneous duties under supervision and according to
protocols laid down
 To attend mandatory training every two years.

 Observe the provisions of and adhere to all Trust polices and procedures.
