We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and flexible Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and dedicated team. This is a rotational post providing experience of all aspects of the pharmacy technician role in a hospital environment, including dispensing and preparation of medicines, pharmacy stores and procurement, ward-based technical services and aseptic preparation provision.
This role will play a key role in our improvement plans through the Outstanding Pharmacy Programme.
Summary of most important Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:
BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences / NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
Main duties of the job
Brief Description of the Role: You will play a key role in the provision of pharmacy services helping us to deliver and improve the quality of patient care.
Key elements of the role include:
- Work as part of the pharmacy dispensary services team in the comprehensive and efficient supply and delivery of medications.
- Performing accuracy checks on dispensed and ward stock items prepared by other staff
- Communicate non-complex advice and counselling to patients and carers (in relation to medicines usage)
- Medicines optimisation on wards including assessment of patients own medicines and medicines reconciliation
- Ordering and supply of pharmacy stock
- Aseptic preparation
The post involves weekend, Bank Holiday and late night rota duties.

Knowledge
Essential criteria- Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
- Knowledge of Medicines Optimisation
- Knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical technical procedures specific to the area of work
Qualifications
Essential criteria- NVQ3 and BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent level
- Registration with the GPhC as a qualified pharmacy technician (or in the process of registering with GPhC if undertaking pre-registration training)
