We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join our team on a 12-month contract. This role is based in our Manchester office and offers a competitive hourly rate of £42-£43, outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, specification, and implementation of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, predominantly for high-rise buildings.
- Perform detailed calculations and simulations to ensure optimal system performance and energy efficiency.
- Develop and review technical drawings, schematics, and specifications using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM).
- Conduct site inspections, surveys, and assessments to evaluate existing systems and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., CIBSE, ASHRAE, and Building Regulations).
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, feasibility studies, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into building designs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- UK and Northwest Built Environment experience
- Extensive experience in mechanical building services engineering, with a strong focus on HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM) and simulation tools (e.g., IES, TAS).
- In-depth knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., CIBSE, ASHRAE, Building Regulations).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform detailed calculations and simulations.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
