A Vacancy at South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust.

SWLSTG MH Trust is a lead provider within the South West London Trailblazer programme with ten Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) across Merton, Sutton and Wandsworth, in addition to two CWP teams. We pride ourselves on running an inclusive, creative service and are looking for enthusiastic and committed qualified EMHPs and CWPs to join us on either a full time or term time only basis working in one of our Merton or Sutton teams.

Each team is led by a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist who offers both individual and group supervision weekly. We have a dynamic and innovative service with a strong focus on continuing professional development, collaboration between teams, peer and wider service support, creativity around resource development and including student voice in our service development.

The teams have good links with the wider NHS CAMHS network and school staff. In addition to their usual clinical work, EMHPs and CWPs are offered opportunities to take on a team lead role, undertake an audit if they are interested in doing so and / or take on a mentoring role for new trainees.

We take a keen interest in ensuring that both professions remain on a steep learning curve in order to remain happy and fulfilled in their roles and have increasing options for career development within the service.

Postholders will work primarily with parents of primary school aged children and young people referred by secondary schools, providing low-intensity interventions for anxiety, depression or behavioural difficulties.

We pride ourselves on offering extremely good supervision (both individual and group supervision weekly) and learning opportunities with additional contact with senior staff available throughout the week as needed to manage risk and urgent issues.

There is a strong peer support network across all the 12 schools based teams within the Trust and there are a number of whole service learning events and social events between all the different teams each term.

These posts will require:
  • Qualification as an EMHP or CWP – applicants will not be considered unless they have completed a registered training course
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to work cohesively and collaboratively both within a small team and within the wider school cluster
  • Ability to work independently in schools while understanding your own limits
  • The ability to use feedback, reflect and adapt accordingly
  • Strong organisational skills, including thoroughly preparing for weekly supervision and keeping all clinical notes up to date
  • Good experience of working with children, young people & parents and an understanding of how to talk with them
  • Commitment to using data and relevant measures to assess clinical outcome
