Job overview

A major transformational programme has been launched by VUNHST to modernise health service delivery, including promoting better ways of working with the use of new health information technologies to support better decision making and information sharing.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the project team in the implementation of a range of IT and service improvement projects.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the project team in ensuring the successful delivery of projects and that projects produce the required products, to the required standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time and cost.

This is a hybrid working role, with a minimum requirement to work from the various Velindre University NHS Trust locations, 2 to 3 days each week (with flexibility to be at various sites on additional days for events and meetings as required by the organisation).

Remaining working days are to be remote working. Interviews for this post will be required in person on site.

Main duties of the job

To support the delivery of a variety of digital projects.

To work as a member of the project team, the Project Support Officer’s prime responsibility is to provide project and organisational support to the Project manager and the project boards.

The Project Support Officer will be required to take responsibility and manage designated elements of Projects e.g., supporting, facilitating and

monitoring progress of projects.

To provide administration support to the project as required

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria
  • Good level of educational attainment to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Prince 2 training (formal or informal, or willing to work towards attainment)
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of further development – diploma or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of administering projects
  • Good knowledge of Computer skills, and Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to master new applications.
  • Knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring, and controlling projects, e.g. PRINCE2
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of recording and monitoring financial information
  • Experience and understanding of information management and technology issues within the healthcare environment.
  • Experience and understanding of change and configuration management, and information management and technology issues within the within the project environment
  • Knowledge of the procurement process, including contract negotiations particularly in relation to IT procurements

  • Good organisational skills, and the ability to identify priorities.
  • Possesses good written and oral communication skills.
