Internship - Historic Environment and Townscape

The Firm
Montagu Evans is excited to launch our Internship program for 2025. During the month of July, we will welcome an Intern into our business to gain experience with us in our Historic Environment and Townscape team.
Our Historic Environment and Townscape team specialises in historic environment analysis, urban planning, and townscape. We work with a wide range of clients including owners, developers and occupiers of sites providing expertise in integrating historical considerations into modern urban landscapes.
Our projects range from preserving the character of historic towns to advising on the development of sensitive and sustainable built environments.
Responsibilities:
Role Overview- Assist senior consultants in researching historic environments, townscapes, and urban settings.
- Help to prepare reports, including townscape assessments, heritage impact statements, and planning policy documents.
- Help create visual presentations (e.g., diagrams, maps, and townscape views) to communicate findings to clients and stakeholders.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Urban Planning, Historic Preservation, Architecture, Geography, or a related field.
- Strong interest in urban conservation, historic environments, and the interplay between heritage and modern development.
When is the internship period?
Monday 31st June โ Friday 25th July 2025
This will be an in-person internship and you will be required at our London office for the duration of the 4 week internship.
As a Historic Environment and Townscape Consultant Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in assessing and advising on the preservation, development, and enhancement of historic environments and townscapes. You will work alongside experienced consultants to support projects related to urban planning, heritage conservation, and the integration of historical elements into contemporary urban designs.
Whilst learning on the job, the four week program will also include a number of off site activities to contribute to your experience.
