Are you a motivated and detail-oriented professional with a passion for project planning and scheduling? The Defence Nuclear Organisation (DNO) support team at SSG is seeking a Programme Scheduler to play a key role in supporting the installation and maintenance of critical security systems.

This role is central to ensuring the success of high-priority projects by providing expert scheduling and planning support. As part of our team, you’ll deliver a professional, efficient, and cost-effective service to our valued UK Government customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Schedule Development and Maintenance:

Develop and maintain project schedules using tools such as MS Project, MS Excel, and P6 Primavera.
Create detailed schedules, including task sequencing, dependencies, durations, and resource assignments.

Monitor and update schedules to reflect actual progress, addressing deviations or delays.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to align schedules with objectives, requirements, and resource availability.
Lead schedule review meetings and discussions with project teams, stakeholders, and management.

Represent SSG at high-level external meetings as a trusted customer interface.

Resource Management and Risk Mitigation:

Conduct resource planning to ensure optimal allocation and utilisation.
Identify critical paths, bottlenecks, and areas of resource conflicts, proposing solutions to mitigate risks.

Evaluate and refine schedules in response to changes in priorities, scope, or resource availability.

Reporting and Analysis:

Generate reports and visualisations from scheduling software to communicate project status, milestones, and resource allocation.

Run simulations and “what-if” scenarios to assess the impact of changes, delays, or constraints on schedules.

Support and General IT Competence

Provide ad hoc support to the DNO Operations Team and the wider SSG team as needed.

Utilise strong IT skills, including Microsoft 365 tools such as SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Location and Travel Requirements:
Work is primarily based at SSG customer sites in the Reading geographic region. You will be required to travel across the region to multiple Governmental and Military sites. You may be provided with a non-liveried company vehicle to work in your region and with personal use (eligible for taxable benefit).

Due to operational needs, there will be occasions where detached duty is required. This may involve staying overnight at locations that are an unsuitable distance from your home address.

Allowances:

Where applicable, allowances are provided, including:

Market Skills Allowance: £1800 per year in addition to base salary

Travel Time (for travel outside of core hours)
Recall-to-duty when returning to work unexpectedly
Environmental (Radiation) allowance as applicable
Travel and Subsistence for out-of-region and overtime assignments.

Employment Hours:

You will be contracted to work 37 hours a week, typically between 08:00-16:00, however through the above allowances, you will have the opportunity to increase your potential earnings.

Security Clearance

Once onboarded, the successful candidate will be put through the application process to achieve the higher Developed Vetting security clearance level.
