Job Description
As the Head of Clinical Procurement you will;- Lead the commercial strategy for clinical equipment, change programs, and supply chain resilience.
- Oversee high-value contracts and major supplier relationships to secure the best outcomes for the Trusts.
- Collaborate on national, regional, and South Yorkshire procurement initiatives, with a focus on innovation and sustainability.
- To contribute to the development and implementation of Clinical Procurement strategies, supporting the Trusts business plans.
- Responsible for management of the Clinical team procuring goods, services and capital equipment, achieving the best possible financial outcomes for the Trusts, based on whole-lifecycle costs.
- Manage a skilled team, build collaborative partnerships, and deliver cost-saving strategies in alignment with the Trusts' productivity goals.
- Accountable for driving commercial negotiations with major suppliers of equipment and services as well as planning of negotiation strategies.
- Accountable for the resolution of commercial dispute situations including supporting any engagement with third-party legal advisors in respect to resolving contractual issues
- Undertakes contract reviews, assessing supplier performance against contractual obligations
- To deliver against agreed annual cost reduction targets and report on action taken, taking specialist responsibility for specific Departments and product categories.
- Responsibility for managing commercial risk in the areas of responsibility.
- To deputise for the Deputy Procurement Director.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Head of Clinical Procurement Category should have:
- A degree level education or equivalent experience.
- Proven track record in strategic procurement and must have clinical category management.
- Experience of market engagement and developing category strategies
- Experience of leading a team working in a hybrid environment to deliver results.
- Minimum 3 year's direct involvement in Procurement of Clinical Goods/Services, this could be within the NHS or another public sector environment.
- Deep experience of managing complex clinical/equipment tenders and commercial arrangements
- Experience of influencing decisions and building highly effective relationships
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team.
- Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Understanding of procurement legislation and regulations.
- Ability to analyse complex data and produce clear reports.
- NHS Band 8B Circa £62,000 - £72,000 per year dependent on experience

Travel to Sheffield will be expected a couple of times per week so you much live within commutable distance. Interviews will take place w/c 2nd December
