Generic Support Worker | Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust
We are looking for a skilled Therapy Technician to join our dynamic inpatient therapy team at St. Michael’s Hospital, Hayle. If you already have experience of working in an Acute Therapy team, either Occupational therapy or Physiotherapy, we are keen are to hear from you.
The role is part time, working 3 days per week. Ideally, you will be available Wednesday to Friday, but this can be discussed. You will also be part of the weekend rota, for which time off in lieu will be given.
The post covers an adult elective orthopaedic caseload across two in-patient wards and the pre-admission clinic, which is telephone based. We also undertake daily pre-operative Joint Schools which would form part of this role. On occasion you may also be expected to carry out home visits.
You will need to have experience working in a Therapy environment,as well as an NVQ Level IIl in Health Care. You will need to be able to work independentlywithout direct supervision within the bounds of the Therapy Technician role, as well as taking instruction from qualified members of the team.You will also need to have good time management, prioritisation skills, and the ability to use your own initiative in the completion of tasks.
To assist in the development of Therapy Services by supporting Therapists in the assessment and treatment of patients and the day-to-day running of the therapy environment.
To accept patients referred by a Therapist, and carry as own patient caseload. Treat patients according to set treatment protocols, monitoring patient progression, make alterations (within protocols and scope of practice) to patient treatment programmes as required.
Work unsupervised regularly, reporting back patient progress and informing the therapist of any problems.
For a defined and delegated group of patients - to undertake the assessment of patients, using investigative and analytical skills. To use clinical reasoning, and utilise a range of assessment and treatment skills and options to formulate treatment programmes.
