Job Description
Due to continued expansion and long waiting lists, Shirley Swimming Pool, based in Shirley, Southampton is looking to recruit a new Parent & Baby Swim Teacher, with the skills and charisma to teach children from the age of 6 weeks + 3 years, to train in our methods.
Shirley Pool is a small family run business. It is a purpose built two pool teaching centre, dedicated to making every swimming lesson productive and fun. We have over 1,600+ children and adults receiving lessons per week plus we also teach local schools and offer private lessons.
We are looking for passionate and committed Parent & baby teacher, to join our small team of dedicated staff.
Hours are Saturday afternoons 1pm-4:30pmTeacher responsibilities:
- Ensuring all swimming lessons are conducted in a safe environment and are delivered to the highest possible standard
- Accurately recording student attendance and logging their progress using our Swim Safe, easy to use mobile data system
- Working closely with other teachers/management to ensure the continuing success of our business
- We have several shifts available for an immediate start inc weekends plus additional hours may be required and flexibility is essential
- Essential qualifications required:
- Exceptional communication skills and experience in a customer facing environment
- AASA/STA Parent & Baby Teaching Qualification or equivalent is required for the Parent and Baby classes.
- A current NPLQ qualification or National Teachers Rescue qualification (preferred although we can arrange training if necessary)
- Excellent swimming ability with up to date knowledge of the sport
- Be a positive role model, creating a fun environment in which to motivate and encourage young people to participate
- Good Team Player
- A willingness to be flexible to cover other staff lessons for holidays/sickness/maternity
The centre closes at Easter, from Good Friday – Easter Monday, Christmas (normally 23rd December – 1st January plus all bank holidays and teachers will need to allow enough of their holiday allowance around these shutdowns. Staff receives 28 days paid holiday a year.
