Are you an experienced, highly motivated administrator looking for a new challenge? Then this could be the job opportunity for you. This is an exciting opportunity to work in our friendly Adult Speech and Language Therapy team based at Harrogate District Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible for providing efficient, confidential and high quality administrative support within the HDFT Adult SLT Service. You will be required to work closely with other Administrators as well as communicate with Staff, Patients and their carers/families on the telephone (this is not a patient facing role).

The post holder will provide routine administrative support to the clinicians and may also be required to create low tech communication aids, monitoring of loan equipment, preparation for speech and language therapy groups and collection of monthly activity data.

You will be required to work on Fridays, in line with departmental need. The remaining hours can be discussed and agreed on recruitment, flexible working (and school time hours) will be considered.

Main duties of the job
  • To support the Adult SLTs in clerical administration of patients. Computer skills and telephone experience is essential for the role.
  • Assists the Team Leaders in reviewing current systems within the department, ensuring that any necessary changes enhancing service provision are undertaken.
  • Provides effective communication, maintaining excellent inter-personal skills when dealing with patients, carers/families and members of staff at all levels within the Trust.
  • Ensures accurate data input, updating patient demographic details where necessary on the current computerised patient administration system. Ensure all data is current and accurate.
  • To collate and produce performance data reports as required.
  • To maintain a database of all loan AAC devices.
  • Complies with the requirements of the Caldicott Report, the Data Protection Act, Access to Health Records Act and subsequent legislation issued in relation to computer retained data, preserving the confidentiality of patient identifiable data at all times.
  • To assist with training and induction of new members of staff.

Essential criteria
  • 5 x GCSEs - A-C or equivalent
  • Administrative experience
  • Computer literate (including Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Good communication skills
  • Good team work skills
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience booking outpatient appointment
  • Previous experience working for the NHS
  • Displays an understanding of HDFTs values
  • Knowledge of hospital systems
