JOB TITLE: Cleaning Supervisor
LOCATION: AUSTRALIAN HIGH COMMISSION
SHIFT PATTERN: 7am to 5 pm, 9 hours shift and 1-hour unpaid break from Monday to Friday
WORKING HOURS: 45 HOURS PER WEEK

PAY RATE: £15.00 PER HOUR

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of 6 cleaners, ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard within the allocated time frame.
  • Organize cover for absenteeism and ensure that all staffing requirements are met on-site, especially during peak periods or events.
  • Coordinate staff holidays in accordance with company policy, submitting holiday requests via the staff portal in a timely manner.
  • Place orders for cleaning supplies and equipment within the allocated budget, ensuring all site needs are met.
  • Provide staff training on Health & Safety policies and procedures, ensuring the site file is up to date and compliant.
  • Conduct weekly site audits to ensure that all tasks and cleanliness standards are being maintained.
  • Review staff time and attendance, submitting weekly reports to ensure accurate payroll processing within the budget.
  • Liaise directly with the client to ensure satisfaction with cleaning services and address any concerns promptly.
  • Attend the company's mandatory training courses, both online and through ABM University, to stay up to date with company procedures and compliance.
  • Submit any extra charges to the client via the line manager and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Submit weekly staff hours to the line manager without fail.
  • Use Word and Excel proficiently to create and manage tables, reports, and other necessary documents.
  • Regularly check and respond to emails to ensure smooth communication and timely resolutions.
  • Ensure a professional and polished appearance and conduct, as this is a high-profile client site.
  • Handle investigative meetings as necessary, documenting minutes and taking appropriate actions when required.
  • As part of the shift, the supervisor will also be responsible for cleaning an assigned area, ensuring the same high standards are maintained as the team.

Person Specification:

  • Excellent attention to detail with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Reliable, flexible, and adaptable, with a proactive approach to solving problems.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain professionalism with colleagues, clients, and visitors.
  • Well-versed in Health & Safety standards and procedures with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to manage data and reports efficiently.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, ensuring all administrative and operational tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Experience working in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a cleaning or facilities management environment.
  • Ability to deal with staff issues and conduct meetings in a fair and professional manner.
  • Willingness to clean an assigned area as part of the shift in addition to supervisory duties.

Essential:

  • Provide a 5-year checkable reference history.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel to an intermediate or advanced level.
  • Strong organizational skills, particularly with managing time, attendance, and holiday
