The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Casual Event Assistant Team Leader to join our Seafront, Open Spaces and Natural Environment Team. The Seafront Team are specifically responsible for the operational delivery and day to day management of Weston Seafront.
In this role, you will; supervise staff working at a Level 1 to support seafront operations, specifically car parking and traffic management during the high season i.e. weekends, school holidays and bank holidays.
You will get the opportunity to work directly with the Seafront Rangers on site i.e. supporting with locating lost children, signposting first aid or other emergency situations that may arise to that service area.
You will follow instructions and execute operational handovers from management, as well as use your own initiative to support the facilitation and delivery of other activities and events that take place on Weston Seafront.
Based on weather and demand, the hours are flexible but anticipated to be 20 - 24 hours per week (8am – 4pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from April – September).
Key Responsibilities: Lead and supervise other casual staff working at a Level 1
Coordinate the delivery of parking operations to ensure smooth operation of car parking and traffic management on Weston Seafront
Manage all aspects of finance, complying with processes and procedures
Respond to and deal with any incidents, comments or complaints as appropriate or signpost where required, escalating as necessary to managementHave strong communication skills to communicate with colleagues and other agencies through verbal reports i.e. radio, telephone, in person
Have knowledge of Microsoft Packages including Word and Excel
Valid driving licence is an essential condition for this role. 4x4 and/or Beach Buggy Training will be provided. Post holder will need the ability to transport staff, equipment or other resources around Weston Seafront.
This position is based at our Seafront Office in Weston-Super-Mare.

Essential Criteria:Practical work experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas: car parking, traffic management, public facing role in a visitor environment
Ability to lead and engage with the public, colleagues and partners
Understand safe systems of work and the requirements for both staff and public safety
Weather plays a huge role in the operation of the seafront and being able to use your initiative and respond effectively is key
Experience in cash handling and the relevant procedures
Desirable Criteria: Practical work experience in a team leader position
Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding protocols for children and vulnerable adults
