We require an enthusiastic, dedicated Teaching Assistant to work in our fantastic team to provide for the needs of pupils with SEND. We are looking for someone who has experience of supporting pupils with SEND and is passionate about children’s education and personal development.

At St Helen’s, we are committed to providing a high-quality education for all children so that they can ‘fly high’ in all areas, valuing their personal, social and physical development as well as their academic development. We are a Thrive school and use the language of emotion coaching to support our pupils.

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop trusting, positive relationships with pupils
  • Motivate and inspire pupils to engage with energy, enthusiasm, creative ideas and a sense of humour
  • Adapt the timetable and activities for the needs of specific children, for example providing breaks or using practical resources
  • Support children’s social and emotional development
  • Be flexible, patient and understanding, showing sensitivity to pupils’ needs
  • Have a nurturing approach whilst maintaining clear boundaries
  • Work under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCO, in collaboration with the rest of the staff team
  • Be flexible and adaptive to the needs of the children they are working with
  • Communicate professionally and positively with parents
  • Support children across the school at lunch time, both practically and socially
We can offer you:
  • A Church of England school, led by Christian values and with links to the wider community
  • Amazing, enthusiastic pupils who work hard and enjoy playing together
  • A skilled, committed and supportive team, who are passionate about the wonderful children and families in our school and will openly share ideas and advice
  • Opportunities for continuing professional development in areas that link with your role
  • A lovely school environment with generous outdoor space including woods, pond and plane library as well as indoor breakout spaces and a sensory room

This is a fixed-term contract for 1 year. The successful candidate would initially be working in Lower Key Stage 2 to support the needs of a child with an EHCP with Cognition and Learning as their primary need, who requires a highly differentiated curriculum and support to develop their communication skills.
