Job overview
University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust are looking for motivated and driven Pharmacy Technicians to join their Medicines Optimisation team.
This post is suitable for:
- Qualified medicines management/optimisation technicians looking for a new challenge or a change of location
- Community based pharmacy technicians looking for a career change
You should be able to work as part of a team but also have the ability to work flexibly and independently in a professional manner. The role will involve interaction with a variety of people, including patients, nurses and doctors; therefore applicants must possess excellent communication skills.
Main duties of the job- Medicines optimisation duties on the wards, undertaking medicines reconciliation, patient’s own drug assessments, patient counselling and reducing unnecessary wastage on discharge by managing the medication supply pathway and providing a one-stop dispensing service
- Dispensary duties including checking dispensed medicines as an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT)

You will be required to work on the late night, weekend and bank holiday rotas. You will also be required to work flexibly.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Pharmaceutical Science and BTEC in Pharmacy Services
- Registration to The General Pharmaceutical Council
- Accredited Checking Technician
- Accredited Medicines Management Technician
- Worked in an educational supervisor capacity
Experience
Essential criteria- Regular patient contact
- Working in primary or secondary care
- Minimum 2 year experience as qualified technician
- Experience of co-ordination or supervision of junior staff
Technical Skills Competencies
Essential criteria- Neat, accurate, numerate
- Basic I.T.
- Knowledge of Wellsky software
- Experience using EPMA
