Job overview
The Health Care Support Worker will support the registered nurse in the provision of the highest possible standards of care for patients and their families. They will perform tasks within their own competence following direction from a registered nurse in a professional manner, maintaining confidentiality at all times.Working as part of a team to ensure the highest quality of care is given at all times to patients.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary care team:-- To undertake delegated duties as instructed by the registered nurse.
- Support multi-disciplinary team in providing consistently high standards of care.
- To record timely and accurate patient information.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Working in a secure estate, offers such a unique experience for health care support workers who have an interest in developing skills in the management of people experiencing multiple disadvantages, people with lived experience of trauma, substance dependency and often homelessness.These individuals present with a huge variety of complex physical and psychological needs and require care and compassion from nurses and healthcare support workers who are focused to deliver a holistic and truly patient centred care. Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Good basic level of education
- Knowledge of care and related procedures, clinical observations, relevant legislation; short courses to undertake patient and clinical care duties, completion of a competency- based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3
- Confidence in working with limited supervision
- Ability to identify limitations of unregistered role
- Awareness of professional boundaries
- Understanding of health promotion & health care issues
Experience
Essential criteria- Significant Hospital / Community experience
- Experience of undertaking some clinical tasks i.e. patient observations, venepuncture, Cannulation, ECG
- Ability to undertake point of care testing.
- Able to accurately record and report clinical observations and other information accurately.
Skills and Attributes
Essential criteria- Able to understand and carry out instructions accurately
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Able to work within a multi-disciplinary setting
- Ability to work on your own or under supervision
- Understand and respect the principles of dignity & confidentiality
