This role is within the Epilepsy Service, located in the main hospital site. The new team member will be supporting the Epilepsy Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
The post holder will be providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Advanced Nurse Practitioner and will assist in ensuring effective service delivery to the population of Milton Keynes.
The post holder will need to have excellent communication and team working skills, whilst being respectful and ensure confidentiality with patients. They will need to provide a customer focused service dealing with all patients or visitors in an efficient, polite and courteous manner.They will ensure that all enquiries are dealt with in a timely, polite, professional and confidential manner, taking action or escalating as appropriate, using initiative and prioritising skills; referring clinical-related queries to appropriate staff.
All training will be provided to the new post holder where necessary.

Main duties of the job
To provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Advanced Nurse Practitioner and to assist the Advanced Nurse Practitioner in ensuring effective service delivery to the population of Milton Keynes.
Our administrator will provide day-to-day support to our Advanced Nurse practitioner, which will enable the Nurse to maximize her time spent with patients. Duties will include filing, photocopying and organizing clinic notes, typing, taking messages, and organizing our office base.Crucially the post holder will maintain the outcomes database and support compliance with the electronic recording of performance measures; therefore, computer literacy, particularly in excel is essential.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities- To work as a member of the Epilepsy Administrative team to provide daily assistance to the Epilepsy Specialist nursing team giving confidential administrative support.
- To assist the Advanced Nurse practitioner in all administration duties relating to the day-to-day running of the service
- To support the Advanced nurse practitioner in the service delivery, which is safe, effective, and responsive.
- To assist in maintaining required levels of access at all times, for patients and referrers of the specialist service across seven days.
- Provide a high standard of administration and secretarial support to the service by typing correspondence and reports, organising meetings, maintaining diaries and managing a comprehensive filing system; carry out other duties as may be required for the effective operation of the service.
- Organise own workload and act independently within appropriate guidelines.
- To provide a polite and efficient reception service to visitors if required. Support clinics by undertaking receptionist duties; able to negotiate with patients whose first language is not English; preparing new patient medical notes; making patient appointments; entering data onto Excel spreadsheets and database.

Qualifications and knowledge
Essential criteria- Good general education including English minimum of 5 GCSE (Grade A to C) or equivalent.
- Strong IT skills in relation to Microsoft packages including word/excel to NVQ level 3.
- Typing qualification or equivalent experience.
- ECDL qualification or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria- Relevant secretarial/ administration experience working within a clinical environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to delegate tasks and supervise outputs.
- Experience of using IT/Patient data Systems.
- Ability to accurately and efficiently input and retrieve information on a computerised system whilst adhering to complex local and national policies and guidelines.
- Experience of handling inbound and outbound telephone calls of a potentially sensitive nature.
- Working in a busy environment dealing with large numbers of the general public.
- Experience of using: EDM/Ecare, Choose and book, ICE
