Your new role

As Head of Facilities Management and Assets, you will work collaboratively across the department and with other Heads of Service and Directors to ensure the effective and efficient development and delivery of Council services that support departmental and Council objectives. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Investment and Capital, you will be accountable for the strategic leadership of a large diverse team in the provision of Facilities and Support service provision to the Council's commercial property portfolio. Key duties will include:

  • Operating as the professional lead for all aspects of facilities management.
  • Seven-figure budget management inc. capital budgets.
  • Ensure the delivery of cost-effective, safe and efficient range of facilities and support services.
  • Provide effective leadership and management of health, safety & environmental matters for the council.
  • Operate as the strategic lead for FM including associated policies and procedures.
  • Team leadership - multiple direct reports plus overall responsibility for 60-70 staff across hard and soft FM services.

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this role you will require significant experience in operating as a senior manager of facilities operations and asset management for large public sector portfolios. You will have strong budget and team management skills with a proven track record in leading large delivery teams. You will also require:

  • Relevant facilities/property professional qualifications (IWFM etc.).
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience across all aspects of commercial property facilities management.
  • Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of all aspects of the property industry including legislation and compliance regulations.
  • Extensive strategic team management experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in the public procurement of large and complex contracts.
  • Understanding of the key components of PPP/PFI projects.
  • High level of communication skills to engage audiences and form positive relationships at all levels (internally and externally).

  • £92,000 - £105,000 salary.
