The opportunity
We have a unique opportunity for a Quality Manager to join our internal Risk & Compliance team. This role can be based in any of our national offices (Bath, Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds, London, or Manchester). This role also offers a hybrid working environment, with two days in the office per week.Some travel might be required from time to time.
This is a new and strategically important position, ideal for someone who is passionate about embedding a culture of continuous improvement and maintaining high standards across a values-led organisation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing our internal quality systems, helping prepare the firm for ISO 9001 certification, and supporting our ongoing commitment to regulatory compliance and operational excellence.Working closely with the Head of the Risk and Compliance team, you’ll act as the firm’s internal expert on quality management – leading audits, maintaining documentation, and helping ensure that processes are both efficient and aligned with industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
General duties include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the design, implementation and ongoing development of the firm’s internal quality management system, with a particular focus on preparing for ISO 9001 certification.
- Conduct internal audits across departments and locations to assess adherence to quality standards and internal policies.
- Support the Risk Manager in maintaining and developing firm-wide policies and procedures.
- Identify and manage non-conformance issues, ensuring appropriate actions are taken and recorded.
- Maintain and manage quality documentation, version control and audit trails in line with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Work with teams across the business to embed a consistent and practical approach to quality and compliance.
- Monitor updates to relevant legal, professional, and regulatory requirements (e.g. SRA Standards and Regulations) and help ensure timely implementation of necessary changes.
- Coordinate and support external audits and accreditation visits, acting as the key liaison for external assessors.
- Provide training and awareness sessions for staff on internal quality procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Essential- Proven experience in a quality management or compliance role, ideally within a legal or professional services environment
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 standards, including experience supporting or leading an organisation through ISO accreditation processes
- Strong understanding of risk and compliance within regulated environments
- Proficient in document management and reporting tools
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both internally with colleagues and externally with clients
- A commitment to ongoing professional development
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- IT literate including Office 2010
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualification (or equivalent)
- Familiarity with the SRA Standards and Regulations
- Experience implementing or maintaining quality systems across multiple office locations
- Understanding of the unique regulatory and operational landscape of law firms working in the charity and education sectors
- A previous role within a law firm, or experience being a qualified lawyer
