Behaviour Mentor Opportunity at SEMH School in Chasetown (WS7)

Location: Chasetown, WS7
Position: Behaviour Mentor
Contract: Full-time, Temporary (Immediate start)
Pay Rate: From £86.40 per day (dependent on experience and hours)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (term-time only)

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) provision in Chasetown, WS7.

This role involves working with Key Stage 2 and 3 students who have social, emotional, mental health, and behavioural needs.

The school places a strong emphasis on sport, making candidates with a sporting background particularly desirable.

As a small and closely-knit community, the school is looking for someone who can integrate seamlessly into their supportive team, where personality, motivation, and additional skills are key.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide opportunities for students to progress academically, socially, and emotionally.
  • Lead by example, acting as a positive role model.
  • Lead and participate in sports and activity sessions.
  • Understand and respond to the individual needs and personalities of the students.
  • Offer mentoring, guidance, and emotional support.
  • Create and maintain a safe, supportive learning environment.
  • Address challenging or disruptive behaviour in a calm and constructive manner.
  • Support students in developing self-confidence, positive self-image, and independence.
  • Ensure full compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.
Candidate:
  • Previous experience working with special educational needs (SEN), whether through professional or personal experience.
  • A genuine passion for working in education and supporting young people.
  • A positive, creative, and proactive approach to supporting students with a wide range of needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and families.
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training (issued within the last year).
To be eligible for this role:
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
  • Provide two professional references relating to working with children, covering the last two years.
