Responsibilities:

As our SENCO, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying Needs:
Assessing and identifying the individual needs of students with SEND.
  • Developing Plans:
Creating and implementing effective support plans and interventions.
  • Collaboration:
Working closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Training:
Providing training and guidance to staff on best practices for inclusive education.
  • Monitoring Progress:
Regularly reviewing and monitoring the progress of students with SEND, adjusting support plans as necessary.
  • Compliance:
Ensuring the school meets all statutory requirements related to SEND provision.
  • Advocacy:

Acting as an advocate for students with SEND, ensuring their voices are heard, and their needs are met.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Qualifications:
A relevant degree and a recognised SENCO qualification.
  • Experience:
Proven experience working with children with SEND, ideally within a primary school setting.
  • Knowledge:
A thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
  • Skills:
Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion:
A genuine passion for inclusive education and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of students with SEND.
  • Flexibility:

The ability to adapt and respond to the diverse needs of students and the school community.
