Overview

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing financial reporting, compliance, and month-end processes, including management accounts, VAT submissions, and balance sheet reconciliations. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role ensures timely and accurate financial statements, tax compliance, cash flow management, and audit coordination, with a focus on organized and secure documentation.

This role is based in London Victoria, with working hours being 9.00am- 5.30pm, Monday to Friday with a one-hour unpaid lunch break. We operate a hybrid working model of a minimum of three days in office per week, Mondays and Wednesdays being compulsory days in office.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Accounting
  • Prepare and submit monthly management accounts, ensuring completion within set deadlines.
  • Manage the monthly sales ledger, including invoicing, recharges, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Perform monthly trial balance imports, adhering to deadlines for timely financial reporting.
  • Complete and review profit and loss statements and balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with regulatory deadlines.
Reporting
  • Prepare and review monthly management reports, providing detailed financial insights within established timelines.
  • Oversee monthly cash flow management.
  • Produce annual financial reports and statements within regulatory and organisational deadlines.
  • Handle tax reporting and compliance with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Provide investor and lender reports as required, ensuring clear and transparent communication.
  • Manage audits when necessary.
Documentation management
  • Ensure financial and tax records are filed consistently for ease of retrieval.
  • Ensure all financial documentation is kept up to date and complies with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain financial and tax processes and document/communicate where necessary.
  • Safeguard the security, integrity and confidentiality of all financial data and records.
Other Responsibilities
  • Assist with ad hoc financial queries and reporting, providing timely and accurate information.
  • Support the Finance Manager and collaborate with the wider finance team on various projects and initiatives.
Qualification and Experience
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • AAT Level 4 or equivalent is essential.
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in accounting.
  • Experience in the real estate industry or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of property accounting, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Net Suite or similar) and MS Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
