An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term Health and Wellbeing Coordinator to join our Late Effects team. This post is being offered on a 12 month basis. The successful candidate will work alongside our Late Effects MDT to ensure our Children and Young People can access appropriate signposting and support following treatment for Cancer.

The role will support the MDT in administration of clinics and also in promoting health related information and support to our children, young people, and families. The post holder will make meaningful relationships with children and families who require compassion and expert advice throughout their journey, ensuring we show our Trust values to every patient - Ambitious, Brave, Compassionate.

Main duties of the job

The role will support the MDT with clinic administration and provide practical support to children, young people, and their families, helping to promote healthy lifestyles. The post holder will make meaningful relationships with children and families who require compassion and expert advice throughout their journey, ensuring we show our Trust values to every patient - Ambitious, Brave, Compassionate.

The successful candidate will support the Late Effects MDT to ensure patient consultations are organised effectively and efficiently so the patient is seen without clinical risk, within agreed timelines and Trust standards, including the safeguarding policy.

Under the guidance of a registered practitioner, the successful candidate will ensure the child, young person (CYP) and families are aware of their long term follow up pathway and empowered with information about potential/actual late effects and how best to manage them.

Parkview Clinic is a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Mental Health (CAMHS) facility in Moseley, for young people aged 11-18 years who require admission due to significant psychiatric difficulties.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of GCSE or equivalent Grade C or above in English
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent plus knowledge and experience to diploma level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Study of Health Education

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable Experience of using own initiative and dealing with the unpredictable
  • Experience of developing, monitoring and or implementing systems
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with CYP
  • Experience of working in a health service environment
  • Experience of delivering Health education
  • Experience of working in an Oncology/Haematology environment

Analytical and Judgement Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable ability to use initiative in decision making.
  • Have an awareness of the effects of CYP and their family coping in stressful situations within health care system and respond accordingly
  • Ability to collect and analyse some complex data

Professional and Specialist Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Formal and informal Presentational skills
  • Ability to use email, internet, set up databases and spread-sheets
  • Effective verbal and written communication of routine, emotional and sensitive information
  • Ability to provide Accurate and prompt reports as required.

  • Excellent Organisational and prioritisation skills
  • The ability to work to challenging deadlines
  • Highly motivated, flexible and possess enthusiasm for developing the role

MENTAL HEALTH DIVISION:

Our current Mental Health Services division Tier 4 services may be transferring the provision if its services to Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust (CWPT). Whilst at present you are applying for a position within Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation should you be successful in gaining a position with Mental Health Services, your employment may in the future be transferred over to CWPT.
