Main Duties of The Job:
  • Stock Management
  • Oversee and optimise inventory levels across all sites.
  • Maintain effective stock reorder systems to prevent stockouts.
  • Manage expiration dates to ensure patient safety and minimise waste.
Governance and compliance
  • Develop and maintain clinical governance systems and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Contribute to the development and review of Patient Group Directions (PGDs) for these services, ensuring they are appropriate, safe, and comply with regulations.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of medicines management policies and standard operating procedures (SOP).
Controlled Drugs (CD) oversight
  • Monitor and audit CD handling procedures across all sites.
  • Ensure compliance with CD regulations and Trust policies.
  • Report and investigate any CD-related incidents.
Reporting and analytics
  • Generate regular reports on prescribing and medicines usage, costs, and trends.
  • Analyse data to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.
  • Provide insights to support decision-making in medicines management.
Quality improvement and audits
  • Design and conduct audits to assess medicines management practices.
  • Identify areas for quality improvement and implement action plans.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of improvement initiatives.
  • Assist the MSO in reviewing services provided under GP Out-of-Hours (OOH) service, Viral hub, primary care PGD-led pathways, acute primary care services
  • Collaborate with the MSO to identify and analyse medication-related incidents within this service and develop and implement strategies to improve medication safety.
  • Influence organisational learning through audit and incident analysis with contribution of this in captured in the quarterly governance report.
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations on medication safety for relevant committees and stakeholders.
Support for pharmacy technicians
  • Provide guidance and training to pharmacy technicians.
  • Oversee the work of technicians in medicines-related activities.
  • Promote skill development and efficient task allocation within the pharmacy team.
Strategic Support
  • Assist in the implementation of the medicines management strategy.
  • Contribute to the development of new initiatives and service improvements.
  • Support the Lead Clinical Pharmacist in achieving departmental goals.
Reporting Structure
  • Reports directly to the Lead Clinical Pharmacist
  • Works collaboratively with medicine management, operational and clinical teams across all sites.
Qualifications and Skil
  • Registered pharmacist with relevant post-graduate qualifications
  • Experience in community or hospital pharmacy and medicines management is welcomed, but not essential for this position.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in data analysis and report writing Other requirements Maintaining professional registration with the GPhC.

Undertake appropriate training as required for personal professional development.

Responsible for planning and reviewing own workload; requires high level of self-motivation and use of initiative.
To be accountable for own professional actions, guided by national, local and organisational protocols and legislation.
To work in a professional manner transferring information in line with Caldicott policies conforming to data protection policies and legislation.

Use a range of IT applications to create reports and maintain the project information system.

Working Conditions
  • 15 hours per week, flexible scheduling across all sites
  • 12-month fixed-term contract with possibility of extension
  • Some travel between sites (Platform One, Primary Care 24 at Kings Mill Hospital, NEMS Urgent Treatment Unit at Queens Medical Centre) might be required.
