Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Lead Clinical Pharmacist to steer our respiratory pharmacy service. This role focuses on the leadership of our dedicated ward pharmacy service for respiratory wards, incorporating quality improvement methodologies to demonstrate patient benefits and broader impacts on the multi-disciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to provide high-quality care to respiratory patients, adhering to national, regional, and local guidelines.
  • Lead the inpatient delivery of ward pharmacy services on respiratory wards.
  • Identify and develop service improvement models to enhance medicine optimisation for respiratory patients.
  • Provide leadership around medicines governance.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Clinical Pharmacy knowledge associated with a 4 year Pharmacy degree course
  • Experience gained through 1 year preregistration training
  • Experience gained through vocational practice.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of staff management.

Contractual Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Flexibility in working hours
  • Able to work extended hours

Experience

Essential criteria
  • BSc, BPharm or MPharm in Pharmacy
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Diploma or MSc in clinical pharmacy gained through post-graduate study or equivalent experience including the CPPE Primary care pharmacy education pathway
Desirable criteria
  • Post-graduate studies
  • Qualification in management
  • Independent prescribing

Further Training

Essential criteria
  • Experience of medicine usage evaluation and financial reporting
  • Audit and/or quality improvement experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Project work.
  • Practice research

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Clinical knowledge from aspects of career to date.
  • Appropriate experience of hospital pharmacy
