Facilities Officer

We are seeking a dedicated School Caretaker with experience in a school or similar environment. This role is essential in maintaining the safety, security, and optimal functioning of our educational facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a range of duties that ensure the school premises are well-cared for and presentable.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Conduct regular inspections of the school premises to identify maintenance needs.
  • Perform minor repairs and coordinate with contractors for more significant maintenance work.
  • Ensure the security of the school buildings by managing access points and alarm systems.
  • Prepare facilities for daily activities and special events, including setting up furniture and equipment.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of outdoor areas, including playgrounds and sports fields.
  • Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and place orders as necessary.
  • Respond to emergency situations promptly to prevent disruptions to school operations.
  • Work closely with school staff to support a positive and safe learning environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a caretaker in a school or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance procedures and use of maintenance equipment.
  • Good physical condition to perform manual tasks and lift heavy objects.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
