Data Protection Compliance Manager

We are seeking a Data Protection Compliance Manager who will lead on key areas of work in the Data Protection Team. The successful candidate will lead on the integration of data protection best practice across DBT and manage an array of UK GDPR / Data Protection Act 2018 compliance activity.
The Data Protection Team sits within the KIM Team. Key KIM functions and responsibilities/ownership include information management, governance, organisation transparency, freedom of information, data protection and records management.
This is opportunity for the right candidate to develop within a high performing team. The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting the Head of Data Protection (and DPO) as they inform and advise DBT on data protection obligations under UK GDPR.
The Compliance Team you will lead sits alongside the Data Protection Risk Assurance Team and Advocacy Team under the Head of Data Protection.
You will provide expert advice on data protection law and best practice and will oversee data incident management and data subject rights policies and processes, as well as playing a lead role in data security initiatives across the department.
This is a high-profile role requiring regular interaction with senior leadership and stakeholders across the department. You will be directly supporting the Head of Data Protection in delivering the Data Protection Strategy.
Responsibilities- Lead a team in managing data subject rights requests and data incidents, maintaining relevant policies and guidance materials, and monitoring timeliness compliance rates.
- Personal management of significant data breaches, identifying risks and ensuring timely action is taken; implementing effective remedial measures where appropriate and escalating risk effectively.
- Support with the management and response of data protection enquiries, providing expert, practical advice.
- Analysis of data incident trends to identify compliance risks and to inform preventative measures.
- Assist the Head of Data Protection/Deputy DPO with key tasks, deputising across the Data Protection & KIM team where necessary.
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, including Security, Cyber and Legal functions, to achieve effective results in identifying data security solutions.
- Support initiatives to embed Privacy by Design & Default measures.
- Line management responsibility for a team of three Data Protection Advisors.
