Southampton, Store Support Office

We believe anyone can improve their home to make life better. From our Southampton Store Support office (SSO) we equip our stores, our people, and our whole business with everything it takes to help our millions of customers create a home they’ll love.

Join us as a Customer Planning Manager and you’ll be a big part of this.

Role Purpose:

Are you ready to take the lead at the heart of one of the UK’s most loved brands? As a Customer Planning Manager at B&Q, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the marketing activity that brings our brand to life — driving customer preference, consideration, and footfall.
You’ll take ownership for delivering our quarterly seasonal campaigns across the year, plus much of the product, trading, brand, and wider marketing initiatives that fuels them. Working hand-in-hand with senior stakeholders, our creative and marketing channel teams, commercial partners, and agency collaborators, you'll make sure that every campaign is not only brilliantly planned but powerfully executed — inspiring millions of customers to make their homes better with B&Q.

This is an opportunity to influence brand storytelling on a national scale, working at pace, shaping strategies, and seeing the direct impact of your work on business growth. If you thrive in fast-paced retail marketing, love leading cross-functional teams, and have the ambition to drive ideas from strategy to delivery, then this is your next move.

What's the job?:

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

  • Own and deliver end-to-end quarterly marketing campaigns — from insight-led strategy and creative briefing through to activation, delivery, and post-campaign review.
  • Champion cross-functional collaboration across brand, trading, customer insight, propositions, creative and channel teams — holding others to account to ensure best-in-class outputs on time.
  • Bring brand, product and trading moments to life, working closely with commercial teams to select and amplify the right products and offers, and with the marketing cross-functional teams to develop communication and creative briefs, creative output and integrated launch plans.
  • Manage campaign timelines and proactively adapt plans based on business and trading needs.
  • Deliver compelling senior stakeholder presentations, confidently articulating strategy, creative direction, and campaign performance insights.
  • Lead strategic ad hoc marketing projects using data and analysis to build the strategy, propositions and plans and work cross-functionally to deliver.
  • Bring energy and rigour to how plans are developed, challenged, and evolved.

Key Business Relationships:

  • Work closely with marketing channel leads, customer insight, brand, propositions, trading, commercial, legal, community, and creative teams to develop and deliver fully integrated campaigns, from briefing through to review.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, vendors, and third-party partners to bring quarterly campaigns and brand marketing plans to life, ensuring consistency, creativity, and best-in-class execution.

What we need::

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Significant marketing experience, ideally within a fast-paced retail or FMCG environment.
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver large-scale, multi-channel campaigns — shaping strategy, briefing creative, and ensuring seamless delivery across touchpoints.
  • Strong commercial mindset, with a track record of linking customer insight and marketing activity to business performance.
  • Exceptional communicator — able to synthesise information from multiple sources into a clear, compelling story, whether writing briefs or presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Highly customer-focused, always keeping customer needs at the heart of campaign and trading decisions.
  • Proactive and decisive, able to make fast, informed decisions and drive actions to meet tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative and personable, with strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams.
  • Strong project management skills — comfortable juggling multiple priorities, adapting plans at pace, and holding teams to account to deliver.
  • Continuous improvement mindset — always looking for opportunities to simplify ways of working, sharpen processes, and drive greater efficiency.
  • Strategic thinker who challenges assumptions, simplifies complexity, and drives decisions confidently.
  • Flexible, resilient, and solutions-focused — thriving in an environment of change and growth.

What's in it for me?:

As part of a great team, you’ll be valued for who you are. We’re committed to making B&Q more diverse and representative of the communities we serve, where everyone can feel they belong and have equal opportunities. You will have access to a range of networks that represent our colleagues and allies and help us to continue to put diversity and inclusion at the heart of our business.
