ALN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit an Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Teaching Assistant to support pupil/s in a secondary school in Newport. You will be joining a well established and thriving school, committed to providing all students with a meaningful and progressive educational experience.

A key component of the school is the ALN Base which offers emotional, behavioural, and academic assistance to students with ALN and special educational needs. This is an excellent opportunity to significantly influence the lives of young individuals who require extra assistance in their educational journey.

Location: Newport
Salary: Starts at £12.90 per hour
Start: ASAP

Hours: School Hours. Monday-Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Ensure the pupil is kept safe, with an inclusive and stimulating environment.
  • Create a positive relationship with the student/s to build trust and comfortability to significantly contribute to their educational experience.
  • Providing emotional and behavioural support to students to enhance their well being and boost their self-confidence.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO, teachers and other support staff to guarantee that all students have opportunities for learning advancement.
  • Participate in training and professional development sessions related to Autism, ADHD and other additional needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children/young people with additional needs is not a requirement but is preferred.
  • Enhanced DBS and Educational Workforce Council (EWC) registration – Teaching Personnel can assist you with applying for these.
  • Right to work in the UK, ensuring compliance with legal regulations.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
