Job Title: Financial Controller

This role is ideal for a strategic, detail-oriented individual with strong financial management skills and a proactive approach to managing day-to-day financial activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and manage timely, accurate financial statements, ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and regulations.
• Management of Accounts: Oversee the preparation of management accounts and other financial reports, providing insightful analysis to aid decision-making.
• Budgets & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring the alignment of financial goals with business objectives.
• Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to maintain the financial health of the business.
• Internal Controls: Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets, ensuring compliance with financial policies and regulations.
• Taxation & Compliance: Manage tax filings and ensure compliance with all UK tax laws and reporting requirements.
• Financial Analysis: Provide financial analysis and insights to senior leadership, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a small finance team, ensuring they are well-supported, developed, and aligned with company goals.
• Audit Management: Coordinate with external auditors and ensure smooth year-end audits and reviews.
• Ad-Hoc Projects: Support senior management with ad-hoc financial projects, including mergers, acquisitions, and system improvements.

Qualifications & Skills:

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience in a Financial Controller role or similar senior finance position.
• Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards (UK GAAP or IFRS).
• Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel (advanced level).
• Experience in managing budgets, cash flow, and financial reporting.
• Excellent understanding of tax regulations, including VAT, corporation tax, and PAYE.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and translate it into actionable insights.
• Leadership and team management experience.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with financial systems implementation or upgrades.
• Knowledge of payroll and pension schemes.
• Experience in a fast-paced or growing business environment.
