Your new role

This is a new Transport Admin/Planning job supporting a busy and vibrant transport team. Main duties include but not limited to:

  • Decide the prioritised delivery requirements of customers, analyse and route vehicles accordingly.
  • Communicate with sales staff to determine customer delivery requirements.
  • Be involved in constant dialogue with the warehouse team.
  • Monitor vehicle progress throughout the day.
  • Communicate routing decisions to drivers, including all necessary and accurate delivery information.
  • Communicate and build relationships with suppliers and agencies.
  • Request back-loading suitable for planned deliveries and stock transfers.
  • Organise deliveries according to customer demands.
  • Communicate with subcontractors.
  • Identify customer requirements through sales and develop plans to meet them.
  • Develop strong working relationships and have regular contact with drivers.
  • Consider drivers' working time regulations.
  • Perform any other duties as directed.

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this job, you will require experience in a similar role, with exposure to working within a transport planning/routing/office/team. You will require a keen eye for detail and the ability to effectively manage internal and external relationships, solve problems and work at pace within a team environment.

Communication is key for this role, as well as the ability to influence, at all levels, both internally and externally, and you will need to be confident on the phone when speaking to a wide variety of people, from suppliers to drivers. You will require great IT skills and the ability to learn new processes and systems quickly.
