What skills and experience we're looking for
Full and Part time roles available –– Permanent – Starting April 2025 or September 2025
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated School-2-Home Teacher to deliver individualized, high-quality education to students who are too vulnerable to attend the school site. In this unique and flexible role, you will plan, resource, and teach a differentiated curriculum in students’ homes, tailoring your approach to meet their specific needs.You will also use a range of assessment strategies to set and monitor individual learning objectives.
What we’re looking for:
We are seeking a skilled SEND teacher who can demonstrate:
- Proven expertise in teaching pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).
- Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), therapeutic integration, and cross-curricular learning.
- The ability to work independently, using your initiative to adapt to changing needs.
- Flexibility in working hours and duties, including occasional on-site teaching as needed.
About the Role:
This newly created position offers a chance to make a real difference in the lives of our most vulnerable students. While primarily based in pupils’ homes, there may be occasions where you are required to teach on-site at the school.

About the School:The Avenue School based in Tilehurst in Reading supports over 250 pupils aged 3-19 with severe or profound learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and autism.
