You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to demonstrate leadership and managerial skills as well as possessing clinical expertise in the speciality.

Main duties of the job- To be a clinical expert within the speciality, with the ability to offer all aspects of nursing care at intensive, high dependency and special care levels.
- To ensure provision of excellent, evidence based care for infants and their families.
- Ensure each infant is assessed, care is planned, implemented and evaluated in negotiation with the family, and that this is accurately documented.
- Promote Family Centred Care and ensure the provision of a welcoming, caring safe environment for the infants and their families.
- To act as an advocate for the infant and family, ensuring the provision of appropriate information and support services.
- Discharge planning is commenced at point of admission, liaising with the multidisciplinary team, other departments and community services.
- Develop and maintain the clinical skills and knowledge to provide clinically effective, holistic, evidence based nursing care, as reflected within the Scope of Professional Practice.
- To be aware of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment in the department and in the community.
- Review of policies and standards for the safe use of equipment and any new equipment introduced to the department.
- Complete and facilitate others completing the neonatal competency packs
- Co-ordinate arrangements, effectively communicate with other hospitals, and participate in the transfer of critically ill infants to agreed referral centres
- Attend deliveries as part of the multi professional resuscitation team
