Job overview

We are looking for a Catering Assistant/Hostess to support the at Sir Robert Peel Hospital, Tamworth.

Working shift Monday to Friday 3.00pm - 6.00pm including bank holidays.

You will be responsible for the preparing and serving of food, stocking shelves, cleaning duties, and beverage services at ward level, working as part of the Communities Facilities team .

Ensuring that all hot meals are prepared and ready for service, all sandwiches, salads are prepared and displayed correctly. Responsibilities for all the food safety documentation with regard to all aspects of the food service and stock rotation and temperature recording.

The successful candidate will be supported by the Facilities Management Team. A comprehensive training package will be provided, and other elements of training will be discussed through the UHDB Talent Mapping Process.

Candidates must be able to complete the Food Safety and Allergen training and to be able to complete the food safety paperwork. English at Level 2 will be required.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of a Catering Assistant/Hostess working at Sir Robert Peel Hospital are to work as part of catering/Hostess team, to carry out a variety of tasks associated with food orders and food preparation, food and beverage service to patients,
  • To deliver good principles of customer care ensuring helpfulness, awareness and compassion to patients, visitors, staff and colleagues.
  • Preparation of patient meal trays.
  • Service of cold and hot food items with meal delivery to patients. and customers.
  • Cleaning duties within the kitchen and other associated areas in accordance with departmental cleaning schedules to include equipment, work surfaces crockery and cutlery.

You will ideally possess a good understanding of Mathematics and English. Have a good understanding of customer care and be able to communicate well with patients, staff and visitors. Catering experience and a Food Safety Certificate are desirable but not essential, skills and technical training will be given.
