Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Modelling Ontologist to join our team in the defence sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data modelling, systems engineering, and the application of industry-standard approaches to data management.This role is crucial in utilizing existing data models to support the standardization of data definitions and enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our systems engineering processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Model Utilization:
- Leverage existing data models within systems engineering to support the standardization of data definitions across projects.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy in data representation and integration.
- Data Modelling:
- Develop, manage, and refine data models to meet the needs of various defence projects.
- Ensure that data models adhere to industry standards and best practices for data interoperability and integration.
- Systems Engineering Support:
- Provide support in systems engineering by applying data modelling techniques to improve data management and integration.
- Collaborate with systems engineering teams to ensure that data models align with engineering requirements and objectives.
- Industry Approach Understanding:
- Stay updated with the latest approaches and best practices in data modelling within the defence and related industries.
- Apply emerging industry approaches to enhance data modelling practices and outcomes.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, systems engineers, and IT professionals, to ensure seamless integration of data models.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of data models and their applications.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in data management and ontology development.
Requirements:
- Security Clearance: Must hold SC Clearance.
- Nationality: Must be a British National.
- Location: Must be able to commute to Stevenage.
- Data Modelling: Proven experience in data modelling, including the development and management of data models.
- Systems Engineering: Some level of experience and understanding of systems engineering principles and practices.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the emerging industry approaches to data modelling.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with data modelling tools and software.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the defence sector or a related industry.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory and compliance requirements.
