We are seeking to recruit a dynamic Occupational Therapist with proven clinical skills, knowledge and experience to join the CAMHS Intellectual Disabilities Team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and motivated person to support the young people and their families in our service as well as be a part of a well established multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
Develop and provide a high-quality Occupational Therapy service within the CAMHS ID Team. Working collaboratively with children & young people, their families/ carers and their networks which can include stakeholders such as Education, local authority, Children’s Social Care, CAMHS Colleagues & commissioners to promote a whole team approach to ensure young people reach their full potential in life.
Ensure effective assessment and support of young people with Intellectual Disabilities & other co-morbidities with varying difficulties to promote participation and skills development in all spheres of daily living - education, self-care, home, and play etc.
You will have an interest in sensory processing and sensory integration difficulties and their impact on participation, with a view to offering sensory assessment and intervention and be sensory integration practitioner trained or willing to participate in sensory integration and/or sensory attachment training to support the team and networks to understand how best to support young people and adapt the environment accordingly.
To produce concise, informative verbal and written reports, programmes, and records as necessary.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will work within an intergraded service within the Trust and Nottingham City & County providing high quality assessment, consultation, and intervention within CAMHS ID. The post holder will have the opportunity to link with other OTs within the trust and be supported to gain experience and knowledge through training if this is required to ensure they are skilled to support such a complex network.The post holder will report to the Team Lead and work within the Trust’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- • BSc Hons or higher qualification in Occupational Therapy
- • Registration with Health and Care Professions Council
- • Up to date CPD portfolio
- • Member of Relevant RCOT Specialist Section
- • Additional relevant further training or qualifications (such as sensory integration/sensory attachment, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy etc.)

Essential criteria- • Holds a full driving license and has access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Training
Essential criteria- • Training in relevant models and assessment tools such as MOHO, VDT MOCA, AMPS etc.
- • Training in trauma and/or attachment.
- • Evidence of CPD and attendance of relevant training.
- • Sensory Integration or sensory attachment intervention training.
- • Other relevant therapeutic skills training such as PACE & DDP.
- • Leadership and supervision training.
- • Practice educators training
Experience
Essential criteria- • Extensive experience of working as an occupational therapist in the field of mental health and/or intellectual disability
- • Working experience of managing own caseload of complex cases
- • Experience working as an occupational therapist as part of a multi-disciplinary/multi-agency team.
- • Experience of leadership and service development.
- • Experience working with young people with an ID.
- • Experience of working as a lone OT.
- • Experience of delivering groups
- • Experience supporting other occupational therapy staff/students.
- • Experience of completing assessments of sensory processing and delivering recommended treatment
- Experience working with residential homes, formal carers, parents, adoptive parents and foster carers.
- • Experience of working with patients under the mental health act.
Knowledge
Essential criteria- • Working knowledge of relevant models of occupational Therapy and associated assessment tools.
- • Knowledge of the occupational needs of young people with an ID
- • Knowledge of the mental health act, mental capacity act and children’s act
- • Principles of group work and group work skills
- • Up to date understanding of key policies and drivers around working with young people.
- • Understanding of attachment theory and sensory integration theory
- • Awareness of ROMS and the importance of these within a community setting.
- • Contributes to and demonstrates awareness of audit process.
