Are you a motivated finance professional ready to step into a dynamic role within an educational organisation? Robert Half is recruiting an Assistant Financial Accountant for a prominent independent school group, where you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting key operational processes.
Principal Accountabilities:
Accounting, Reporting & Governance- Prepare financial statements and manage monthly debtors for a group subsidiary.
- Approve sales invoices, maintain the Fixed Asset Register, and record monthly depreciation.
- Reconcile fixed assets and inter-company accounts on a monthly basis, manage catering income accounting, and assist with external audit processes.
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns, including Partial Exemption and Capital Goods Scheme, for review by the Financial Accountant.
- Complete statistical returns for the Office for National Statistics.
- Manage anti-bribery training requirements and oversee P11D submissions.
- Review and maintain records for insured drivers, including investigating new driver forms.
- Collect data for insurance claims and renewals, and assist with ad-hoc insurance queries.
- Document and review system procedures, and provide administrative support for Access Dimensions and Focal Point systems.
- Set up new users, manage system licenses, and troubleshoot issues as they arise, including updating exchange rates and logging users off after system issues.
- Update weekly cashflows and conduct monthly credit rating checks.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Part-Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA) with a solid understanding of financial accounting, tax, and external reporting.
- Proficient in Excel with strong IT skills, and familiarity with finance systems.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with an ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
