Applications are invited for a Senior Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Genomics of Sepsis at the University of Oxford. You will be based at the Centre for Human Genetics (CHG) within the group of Professor Julian Knight, joining an established team with a track record of innovation and high impact research in functional genomics and susceptibility to complex disease.

You will be responsible for analysing data arising from the programme including NGS, qPCR and RNA-seq data, as well as electronic health records. You will develop novel methodologies for analysis and data collection, informatics structures to manage large datasets, and machine learning models for patient stratification.

You will be responsible for producing scientific reports and publications for high profile journals, including taking leadership in more specialised publications on novel aspects of bioinformatics. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team involving close liaison with members of the Knight group, and collaborators in Danaher and Cepheid.You will also be responsible for creating, testing and using relevant computer code; maintaining and distributing completed software, and applying computational and statistical methodologies and algorithms.

It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil in Bioinformatics, Statistical Genetics, Statistics, Mathematics and Physics, Computer Science or a related discipline, and have a demonstrable interest in the research described here. You will have experience of computational genomics and/or bioinformatics together with functional genomic analysis.

It is essential you have a strong publication record with evidence of a high level of self-motivation and ambition; experience of, and demonstrated competence in, scientific computing using at least one programming language, and excellent analytical and quantitative skills with a proven ability to think critically about scientific analysis in order to ensure robust results.
