Physical Education Cover Supervisor
- 25 hours per week term time only (39 weeks) including INSET days
Hours of work 8:30-16:15 Monday to Friday
An exciting vacancy has arisen within our school for a Physical Education Cover Supervisor. You will be responsible for the delivery of daily cover lessons within Physical Education and across the school, ensuring that lesson and curriculum requirements are met and resources are deployed effectively.This is a key role in the school and excellent interpersonal skills are crucial.
We are looking for someone with a minimum of Grade C GCSE, or equivalent, in English and Mathematics. This role will be ideal for anyone looking to pursue a career in teaching or who is keen to support young people with their learning.

Key tasks will include:
- To manage and supervise physical education classes of students where the normal class teacher is absent, as directed by the member of staff responsible for allocating cover (in the absence of physical education cover your time will be allocated to match the needs of the school on that day).
- To deliver the work set by the absent teacher or the Curriculum/Faculty Leader to students, checking that all students are actively engaged in their learning and on task for the duration of the lesson
- Helping students with their work using relevant classroom management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning; taking registers and recording information related to student progress.
- Delivering 2 afternoons a week of sports training or fixtures, extending beyond the timetabled school day on those afternoons*.
- To give feedback by the end of the day to the appropriate Curriculum/Faculty Leader(s).
- To perform any other reasonable duties as directed by the Headteacher when not covering for absent colleagues.
Examples of such teams include but are not limited to subject specific, pastoral support or administration teams.
- For candidates with a clean driving license, we can offer minibus driver training should you wish to accompany the widest range of competitive sports teams to fixtures.
