Building on our track record of delivering pioneering research we are recruiting for a Senior Principal Investigator to join our innovative team and play a pivotal role in advancing research on a fixed term contract.

The Senior Principal Investigator (PI) will provide leadership and oversight for the Principal Investigator team within EMS Healthcare’s Clinical Research Division. This senior medical role is critical to ensuring the successful delivery of clinical trials conducted across EMS mobile units and Community research sites.

The Senior PI will ensure trials are executed in compliance with regulatory requirements, sponsor protocols, and Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP). This includes supporting trial feasibility assessments, mentoring PIs, and driving operational excellence.

The role also involves liaising with stakeholders and promoting EMS Healthcare’s services to expand the Principal Investigator division’s capabilities and reputation.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you will need the following experience and skills:

Experience- Essential
  • Medical Degree and full GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical trials, with at least 3 years as a Principal Investigator or in a similar leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in managing patient safety, regulatory compliance, and protocol adherence.
  • Strong understanding of ICH-GCP, ethical standards, and clinical trial governance.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading teams and mentoring clinicians in research settings.
Experience – Preferable
  • Experience as a Senior Principal Investigator in a healthcare service or clinical research organisation.
  • Experience with complex or large-scale trials in therapeutic areas such as oncology, cardiology, or rare diseases.
  • Familiarity with EMS Healthcare’s mobile clinical services and managed service models.
  • Track record of working with diverse stakeholders, including sponsors, CROs, and regulatory bodies.

  • Leadership and team management, with the ability to oversee multiple trials and guide diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with internal teams, patients, and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities in clinical and operational contexts.
  • High attention to detail, particularly in regulatory compliance and data integrity.
  • Proficiency in clinical trial management systems and electronic data capture platforms

  • Hold a full driver’s licence
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK
