Key Responsibilities
Utilize finite element analysis (FEA) or other suitable techniques to design and analyse various metalwork connections, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with industry standards.Collaborate closely with draughtsmen, clients, architects, and other stakeholders to discuss design requirements, provide technical expertise, and address any engineering challenges.
Optimize metalwork designs to achieve maximum efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and aesthetic appeal while meeting project specifications and deadlines.
Lead and mentor the engineering team, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise to foster professional growth and development.
Develop innovative solutions and propose alternative design approaches to enhance functionality, durability, and visual impact.
Participate actively in project meetings, providing engineering insights, identifying potential risks, and driving projects forward to successful completion.
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in architectural engineering to inform design decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
Collaborate with other departments, including production, sales, and project management, to ensure seamless coordination and integration of engineering requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Desirable criteria:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.Proven experience in structural design and analysis in the architectural metalwork and construction industry.
Proficiency in finite element analysis software and other relevant engineering tools.
Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, regulations, and standards (e.g., Eurocodes, 1991-1-1, BS8579, BS6180).
Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex engineering concepts to diverse audiences.
Project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
