A quality preceptorship package is provided from our clinical teams with the support our Clinical Educators.

The Children and Youn person Surgical Day unit (CYPSDU) is a busy ward responsible for caring for children requiring elective surgery pre and post operatively, the unit accepts patients from 14 specialities within the trust and also accommodates emergency admissions.

Registration with the NMC as a RSCN/Child Branch nurse is essential.

The successful candidate will be supported and trained using a competency based package.

The unit opening times are 7.30am -7pm Monday-Friday

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • An understanding of government and Trust documents/policies in relation to Children’s Nursing.
  • Ability to work within the boundaries of the NMC professional Code of Conduct
  • A team player able to work well with others and demonstrate commitment to team objectives.
  • Ability to use initiative to decide within sphere of work and/or knowledge recognising where assistance is required.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current NMC registration (child subpart)
  • Diploma or Degree in Adult Nursing

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of utilising evidence-based practice.
  • Experience of working within an acute or community setting.
  • Evidence of multi-disciplinary working.

Disclosure and Barring Checks (DBS)

It is now the policy of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who are new to the Trust who require DBS clearance for the post they have been offered, are required to pay the cost of their DBS. The method of payment for this is via salary deduction from your first month's pay.
