We have recently launched our Leadership and Management Behavioural Framework, providing clarity and direction for all managers of people in how they are expected to manage and lead staff, as part of our evolving, wider, cultural journey.
Leadership & management skills are crucial to the effectiveness of the organisation, in the development of a positive, inclusive culture, and in both patient and staff well-being. We are recruiting an experienced facilitator to join our award-winning L&OD team, leading on the design, delivery, commissioning, and evaluation of a wide range of L&OD interventions, supporting our people in all roles and stages of their careers, developing compassionate, effective skills in communication, coaching, leadership and management.
Main duties of the job
We’re looking for someone with excellent facilitation, and organisational skills who can manage a range of personal development, leadership and management programmes aimed at all levels of staff.
You should be experienced and competent in planning, designing and delivering training using a variety of teaching approaches, both face to face and virtual. We’re particularly looking for candidates who can help create a learning culture. Additionally, you will be able to appraise external courses for impact and outcome and will have experience in guiding people to identify the right learning for themselves.
Suitable candidates will have substantial experience as a leadership and management facilitator, will demonstrate a passion for supporting our people, and will understand and promote the concepts of equity, diversity, inclusion, compassion and engagement in all activities undertaken.
You will have the ability to work with engage, motivate, influence, and enthuse others, showing a passion for development and an empathy with the pressures of busy NHS professionals. You will be able to evidence that you can work autonomously, deliver to deadlines under pressure, maintain professional boundaries, manage budgets, be flexible to meet the needs of the workforce, and be a supportive colleague to others in the team.

For further information on this role, please see the attached detailed Job Description and Person Specification.- Design, deliver and evaluate training and development interventions that are aligned to the Trust values and leadership framework, including facilitation of workshops, and/or team development and the Trust Welcome.
- Working with Head of L&OD, developing leadership capability across the organisation, through a range of methods including training, coaching, mentoring, self-development, on the job development and e-learning.
- With HR colleagues and the Head of L&OD, develop and deliver team and management interventions to resolve conflict in teams and promote effective team working e.g. designing and implementing initiatives.
- Working alongside leaders to develop and deliver a strategic approach to performance improvement, engagement and change management to support the achievement of the Trust’s desired culture and behaviours.

Person specification
Education
Essential criteria- Masters’ degree or equivalent knowledge and experience. Understanding of management and leadership development theory and practice.
- Experienced or qualified in virtual and blended learning design.
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Membership or relevant professional body e.g. CIPD
- Project management qualification
- Level 5 coaching qualification
- Trained in the use of psychometric tools
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience in designing leadership and management courses and programmes.
- Experience of working in L&OD at a senior level, in a complex environment
- Experience of providing expert facilitation, coaching and personal and team development to all levels of staff
- Evidence of providing professional advice and support to managers within the scope of the role
- Experienced in evaluating courses and programmes
- Experience of regularly using a range of IT packages (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Knowledge of compliance and regulatory frameworks such as NHSLA, CQC
- NHS experience
- Experience of delivering 1-2- 1 coaching and action learning.

Flu Vaccination – What We Expect of our Staff
At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
