This role requires a proactive individual who can ensure the provision of a safe and stimulating environment for children and young people.
Day to Day of the role:
- Take an active role in the lives of children and young people, providing good quality care and encouraging positive interaction.
- Support the Registered Manager in delivering a high-quality service that meets the emotional and developmental needs of children and young people.
- Lead the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring a safe environment in line with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
- Organise, deploy, and manage staff, maintaining flexible work patterns and rotas to meet service needs.
- Manage the physical environment of the home, ensuring health and safety standards are upheld.
- Oversee care planning and risk management, ensuring individual care plans are developed, delivered, and evaluated.
- Maintain data and information systems, preparing and presenting reports as required.
- Participate in appraisal, training, and development activities to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- NVQ Diploma Level 3 in Residential Child Care and the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or commitment to achieve Level 5 within 2 years of starting).
- A social work qualification is advantageous but not essential.
- At least 2 years’ relevant experience in residential care within the last 5 years.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop staff.
- In-depth knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and associated quality standards.
- Experience in care planning, risk management, and case management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and maintaining accurate records in accordance with GDPR.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive information.
