Overview:

We are currently looking for a Junior Legal Counsel to join the BHN team and support its business in the UK and Europe.

You would be part of a global team of dedicated legal professionals.

You would be responsible for (i) working on a range of commercial agreements with global brands and retailers while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and with BHN policies and (ii) providing ad hoc legal advice on a wide range of legal topics, including commercial contracts, payments law, data protection, intellectual property, litigation, employment and M&A.

This will be a hybrid position, working 2 days in our office based in Apsley, Hemel Hempstead.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements;
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations and BHN Policies and Procedures;
  • Mitigating legal risks;
  • Providing ad hoc legal advice;
  • Keeping your legal colleagues up to date with respect to all material legal matters;
  • Participating in local or global projects as required;
  • Maintaining and renewing know-how resources.

Qualifications:

  • A Solicitor qualified to practice in England and Wales;
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, including the ability to manage projects and competing priorities, stakeholders and deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Energetic self-started with demonstrated initiative, exceptional business judgement and creativity;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal clients, external counsel and the global Legal Team.
  • Knowledge of, and adherence to, legal ethical rules, guidelines and compliance requirements;
  • Ability to analyse complex issues, propose effective solutions and understand and apply vision and direction.
Education/Experience
  • Experience in payments, retail, compliance or banking would be a significant asset;
  • A high level of attention to practical detail
  • Common sense, a commercial outlook and the ability to exercise sound judgement
  • Experience of negotiating and drafting commercial agreements;
  • Practice of a second language (German or Dutch) would be a plus.
