This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Physiotherapist who would like to specialise in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy.

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Physiotherapist to join our Pelvic Health Team. Your role will be as a Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapist working at The James Cook University Hospital, the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton and community sites.

You will work alongside the pelvic floor Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT), including Physiotherapists, Nurses, Midwives and Consultants, whilst carrying your own pelvic health caseload in Physiotherapy.

The post holder will be expected to have a broad experience across core physiotherapy rotations, including musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Pelvic Health experience is also desirable. However, we are aware that this is difficult to achieve so, where a commitment is demonstrable to the specialism, we are willing to consider a developmental post using Annex 21.

The Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Service is a well established progressive and dynamic service, which continues to develop within the Trust. The team is friendly and supportive and mentorship for this role will be available from within the pelvic health team and from the wider MDT.

Main duties of the job

This post offers development in specialist clinical skills. We have a comprehensive training programme and our staff are encouraged and supported in their CPD through workshops and clinical supervision. There is also an expectation to actively participate in audit and research.

The Perinatal Pelvic Health Service (PPHS) national programme has required us to expand the existing Pelvic Health therapy service. The team is an integral part of the South Tees Pelvic Health service, working to ensure that patients get the best & most up to date clinical care.

This post holder will work offering patients an outpatient / community physiotherapy service which will enable patients to be assessed, diagnosed and treated for a variety of pelvic health conditions including, but not limited to, those relating to pregnancy and symptoms experienced following pregnancy and childbirth.

There is a strong MDT who have a proactive approach to promote patient education and self-management whilst also being very available to help patients when needed.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Has knowledge and understanding of Pelvic Health conditions, the causative impairment and its impact on patient function and activity along with how they affect patient’s participation in society.
  • Has knowledge and understanding of, and has appropriate skills to complete, specialised Physiotherapy assessments used in Pelvic Health.
  • Evidence of advanced clinical reasoning skills
  • Knowledge of NICE guidelines for management of various Pelvic Floor dysfunctions & the appropriate European Physiotherapy Guidelines for Pelvic Floor dysfunctions.
  • Experience of undertaking audit
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team, as well as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of teaching skills/experience.
  • Experience of working in an outpatient / community setting.
  • Experience in service improvement or leading a change project

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • To hold a Diploma or Degree awarded by professional body.
  • Registered as fit to practice by the Health and Care Council (HCPC) as a registered physiotherapist.
  • Evidence of relevant Post Graduate courses
Desirable criteria
  • Clinically relevant short courses e.g POGP
  • Evidence of postgraduate study at MSc level or equivalent or willingness to work towards.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates a highly specialist clinical knowledge and skills relevant to role.
  • Evidence of MDT working
Desirable criteria
  • Member of a Pelvic Health Specialist Interest Group
  • Demonstrates evidence of teaching skills to a range of professionals

Personal Attributes

Desirable criteria
  • Holds a UK driving licence and has access to a car.
